Monk Subclass for 5e
Round one belongs to this monk. Way of the Third Watch acts early and gets where it's going before anyone else, slows down the fastest thing on the other side, and puts a price on walking up to the monk.
Holding that perimeter takes Focus, and from 11th level on every Initiative roll pays that Focus back. The capstone makes every round count as the first one, which is about as far as the idea can go.
