Druid Circle for 5e
Two stones go into the ground, and a straight line runs between them. That's the start of Circle of the Standing Stones, and it costs one action and a use of Wild Shape. Allies who cross the line get +1 to AC and saves until their next turn. Enemies who cross take 1d8 Force damage and lose 10 feet of Speed. The line holds for an hour with no Concentration, or until somebody knocks a stone over and pays for the privilege.
It gets more elaborate from there. At 6th level, two lines that cross make a Crossing, a 10-foot area that can steady allies, reveal what's hidden, or bar enemies and teleporters. A third stone at 10th closes a ring, and the ground inside it runs on laws of its own. Once a day at 14th, a single Bonus Action puts the whole arrangement up at once, with its laws at full strength for a minute.
