Roll What They Want.
The book reads two dice left to right, so a 3 then a 5 is entry 35. Here one entry in each band is open. Roll for a band and the book opens there. The other 30 stay locked, and so does every other table in the book.
NPC Motives, Scene Snags & Found Things
The party will always turn to the one person in the room you didn't plan for, and "he's a merchant" only buys you a few seconds. Roll here and that person wants something specific, like the exact sum they owe someone frightening, counted out before dark. This is the first of the Tables books, and it covers everything around the fight.
The other two tables are for a scene that's gone too smooth and needs to go wrong, and for a searched room that ought to give something back. There are 108 entries in all. Each one starts with a bold catch-word you can read at a glance, then a full line for when you have a few more seconds. The details stay loose on purpose, so whose debt it was and why the salt is gone get settled by the people at the table.
It asks for two dice and a fantasy game. Any system will do, and there's nothing to prep before the session.
